Your children's outgrown shoes
I would not usually advocate passing on your children's shoes but for some children in the world just having a pair of decent shoes, to protect their feet and keep them warm, is a luxury. Therefore I will be collecting second-hand shoes on behalf of two amazing local charities.
Sal's shoes is a relatively new charity based in Surrey, entirely focused on collecting children's outgrown shoes (up to the end of primary school age) to pass on to new owners around the world. There are over 300 million children for whom walking in shoes is a rarity, leaving them vulnerable to infection and injury, and in some countries children are not permitted to attend school if they are not wearing shoes. In their first year, Sal's shoes collected 4,805 pairs of shoes, which were distributed across 8 countries. The target is to at least double this figure during 2015.
